Adult Learning Description:
This course is an introduction to Adobe Photoshop and Digital Imaging designed to acquaint the student with basic digital manipulation techniques. A variety of tools and methods for improving the quality of images will be covered. Image enhancement through the use of color and contrast adjustment, selections, retouch techniques, and creative special effects will be introduced. Basic computer skills on a PC are a prerequisite for the course. Participants should bring digital photos or prints in need of retouching and restoring to the first class. Prints should be no larger than 8 x 10”.
Attendance Requirements:
Students can choose to attend for two class meetings.
Objectives:
During the course, students will experience the following:
1. Image size and resolution parameters.
2. Overview of basic Photoshop tools.
3. Techniques for scanning, enlarging, and cropping images.
4. Image adjustment in density, contrast, and color balance.
5. Basic selection techniques for isolating adjustments in specific areas.
5. Retouching unwanted elements and defects out of a photograph.
6. Sharpening an image to finalize the photo retouching process.
7. Specification for printer output and color management guidelines.
8. Special effects filter options.
