Arrowwood Comments/Coop living:
I have been very active and try to give input to helping our community increase the quality of life in our coop. This is my home, I raised my son here. I try my best to be a good neighbor and positive promoter of where I live. I have lived here since 1984 with my wonderful wife, Sandy. My son was 10 years old and he is now married with a membership and a family of his own. I am committed to doing the best for the Cooperative. I pay carrying charges, just like you do. So, it is important to me to watch the budget and how our funds are spent. Arrowwood Hills Cooperative is going into a transition of some type in 2010 when our mortgage is paid off. We will arrive at a solution together. I care and I love my Co-op community.
Background:
I worked at Arrowwood in maintenance and was promoted to Maintenance Supervisor. I left to start my own company; Montalvo and Son. Our company performed skilled carpentry, painting and maintenance. I am committed to the affordable housing industry and work at Avalon Housing. In that job I assisted homeless individuals with learning a skill or trade. I have tried to help make a difference where I live by sharing my experiences in affordable housing and maintenance. I have worked in the maintenance industry for over 25 years. I have taught classes at the National Association of Housing Cooperatives (NAHC) on maintenance related issues. At NAHC and also at the Midwest Association of Housing Cooperative (MAHC), I received cooperative industry education and insight with board training from the professionals in the cooperative field. I have several certifications related to and required to enhance my skills for my classification as a rehabilitative specialist.
Hobbies/Interests: I love to bowl and I am an avid baseball fan. I love all sports and have sponsored several youth basketball teams. I am also a collector of Cola memorabilia. I have both a dog and cat, and I love to grill outdoors. The youth at our cooperative are important to me.
